At Hornsby Heights Public School the students are very enthusiastic in their involvement in the eco food garden. There are opportunities to plant seeds and seedlings, care for our animals, water the garden from our rain water tanks, harvest fresh produce, and enjoy sharing food they cook from the garden.
Located in the centre of our school the Eco Food Garden consists of raised vegetable gardens, fruit trees, compost bins, housing for our animals, frog pond, bush tucker garden, and a seating area for outdoor learning activities. The Eco Food Garden has a strong and enthusiastic team of parents and teachers who volunteer their time to assist with planting, fund raising, construction, and planning activities that support the continued involvement of students in the Eco Food Garden. All interested parents and community members are welcome to join this team.
