Paper Plane Poetry
Stage 2 have been learning about prepositions and last week and took to the playground with paper planes. They recorded the prepositional phrases that described where the paper planes flew and landed. Students then went back to the classroom and turned these phrases into poems by adding adverbs and synonyms for the word flying. A fun, hands on experience that resulted in some amazing poems by all students. Here are two examples:
The Extraordinary Plane by Amber
Falling and getting unexpectedly stuck in the basketball nets Gliding swiftly over the soccer goal Surprisingly zooming through the pole into the garden bed Fluttering gracefully onto the maze bushes Carelessly floating onto the tin shed roof Soaring, Zooming, Flapping, Whizzing
Fly Guy by Max
Swooping slowly under the monkey bars Soaring rapidly into the basketball fence Torpedoing violently at a poor apple Gliding safely onto the damp grass Flying quickly down the big wooden stairs Accidentally flying through the old gum tree Whizzing, zooming, hovering, speeding
