Science and technology

Science and technology is mandatory for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In science and technology, students explore the natural and made worlds. They learn how to apply scientific and technological skills, knowledge and understanding across a broad range of contexts.

Science provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real world problems. The inquiry and skill-based nature of science opens doors to ideas and discoveries.

Science and Technology allows our students opportunity to learn about natural and built environments by investigating, designing and using technology.

At Hornsby Heights some of our Science is supported by the Primary Connections Units developed by the Australian Academy of Science.

Science Lessons
- Provide innovative teaching and learning activities which enhance student knowledge, understanding and skills.
- Allow opportunities for students to suggest and plan scientific investigations including fair tests.
- Encourage reflection, learning and evaluation of results.
We support awareness of our changing planet and caring for future communities.
