In NSW primary schools, the study of a language is optional.
Language study allows students to develop communication skills, learn about languages as systems and explore the relationship between language and culture. Students engage with the linguistic and cultural diversity of societies and reflect on their understanding of social interactions.
At Hornsby Heights Public School, we do not offer LOTE (Languages Other Than English), however, school classrooms are used as a Community Language School location.
The current Year 6 block is utilised as a Chinese Mandarin Language School on Saturday mornings by The Australia Children Learning Association Inc. http://www.acla-learning.org.au/home.html
